Artist Bio

Growing up, many things felt important to me, but nothing compared to the little yellow paint set and brush I carried everywhere. It didn’t matter that the paints were cracked or that the colors bled together—what mattered was that, with a single sweep of the brush, I could be transported anywhere my imagination wanted to go.

That passion for art grew through my years at Rollings School of the Arts, Summerville High School, and the University of South Carolina, where I earned both a Bachelor of Arts in Art Education and an Interdisciplinary Master of Arts. Throughout my college career I was fortunate enough to study art and art education abroad in Cortona, Italy. Over the years, my work has been exhibited across South Carolina at venues including the Flowertown Festival, Southeastern Wildlife Exposition, Charleston Artist Guild, SC State Fair, Tapp’s Art Center, Artista Vista, Lexington Old Mill, Red Bird Gallery, Calhoun Street Gallery, Midlands Pediatric Dentistry, and Hotel Trundle. My artwork is also available through McIntosh Antiques & Gifts in Columbia, SC, and Al and Harry's in Bluffton, SC. Additionally, I’ve participated in community art events such as the Cottontown Art Crawl and Melrose Art in the Yard.

My works are often autobiographical, evolving alongside the different stages of my life. While I primarily identify as a painter, I love exploring and experimenting with new mediums, allowing my creative process to remain fresh and ever-changing.

As an art educator, I found deep joy in connecting with my community. While teaching at Gilbert Elementary School, I collaborated with international mixed-media artist Khaldoune Bencheikh on a 650-square-foot mosaic project, which inspired me to create community mosaics throughout Gilbert. Later, at White Knoll Elementary, I continued this vision by adding a mosaic garden at the school’s entrance—a colorful welcome for all who visit.

In 2019, I stepped away from the classroom to focus more fully on my family and my own art practice. While I missed my students and colleagues, this change gave me space to grow as both an artist and individual, embracing the new direction God had placed in my life.

Currently, I have made my way back into the classroom. While continuing to focus on my art, I am teaching art part time to 4K-6th grade at the sweetest private school. Embracing the new change!

Though a Lowcountry native at heart, I now live in downtown Columbia, SC, with my ever supportive husband Brent, our three sons, and a sweet fluffy pup.
